Our Programmes

The Aspire Programme aims to develop our future talent by equipping delegates with the skills and knowledge to support the strategic direction of the business going forward, and is endorsed by the ILM. The outcomes of the programme are as follows:

  • Provide the skills and knowledge for delegates to perform their role to a high standard
  • Ensure delegates with the right attitudes, behaviours and values in line with the Nexus vision, mission and objectives
  • Support succession planning in the business by creating a talent pool of individuals ready and able to step up to the next level
  • Investing in high potential to retain our talent
  • Building committed and engaged teams who understand the value each individual can bring to the business

Through an extensive skills assessment based on excellence within the context of a Site Foreman role with Tamdown, high potential individuals are selected to engage in a development programme aiming to highlight their practical talents and utilise their learning styles to develop their leadership capability to enable them to progress to a Foreman role within the organisation. The programme aims to embed the goals and culture of the organisation, seek to recognise and develop those individuals, and empower them to lead and demonstrate high performance amongst the sites they are allocated through interactive experiential learning. The programme is also endorsed by the ILM.

The outcomes of the programme are as follows:

  • To develop our aspiring Foremen with the skills and knowledge to carry out the role to a high standard
  • Support succession planning in the business by creating a talent pool of individuals ready and able to step up to the next level
  • Investing in high potential to retain our talent
  • Develop high performing teams by growing managers that coach, empower and drive performance culture on site and across the business
  • Align leadership skills and approach to organisation culture, values and goals

The ILM Aspiring and Front Line Manager Programme aims to develop our new and aspiring managers in terms of their leadership skills and knowledge to become more effective in both managing their teams in delivering the goals of the business, and equates to an ILM level 3 award.
The outcomes of the programme are as follows:

  • To create a proactive approach to leadership
  • To create a platform for self-development
  • To ‘Walk the talk’ aligned to the organisation’s expectations
  • To grow and retain talent
  • To create leaders, not followers
  • To drive a performance culture
  • To impact on the profitability of the organisation

The ILM Experienced Manager Programme aims to develop our existing experienced managers in terms of their leadership skills and knowledge to become more strategic and effective in delivery the goals of the business, and equates to an ILM level 5 award.
The outcomes of the programme are as follows:

  • To create a platform for self-development
  • To ‘Walk the talk’ aligned to the organisation’s expectations
  • To grow and retain talent
  • To create leaders, not followers
  • To drive a performance culture

The Site Engineer and Management Programme (SEMP) is new for 2018, and is aimed at all Tamdown site managers, site supervisors, assistant site supervisors, project managers, engineers and trainee engineers, as well as any identified future talent. The programme consists of fourteen workshops which are experiential and interactive, and will provide an opportunity for our site employees to share experiences and knowledge with peers, whilst learning some tips and techniques to help the delegates and their teams.

The aims of the programme are as follows:

  • To share experiences and learning across our site team management and engineers
  • To develop and upskill our existing site team management and engineers
  • To reinforce the site Development & Skills Matrix in practice and begin to develop a career pathway for site employees
  • To create a peer support network across the business
